THE SOUTH-SURNAME EMAIL LIST
The South-Surname Mailing List is dedicated to the open discussion and sharing of any information
pertinent to the South Family, any line, anywhere in the world. Feel free to post anything from queries
to web site URL's to family stories to what ever relates to the Souths, but please, keep your posts
limited to just South family genealogy/history.
The list co-managers are Jayne McRae & David South (for comments and South family questions), and Scott Hampton (for technical matters).

THE COPE EMAIL LIST
The Cope Family Mailing List is a discussion forum for anyone with an interest in the Cope family
history and genealogy, from any and all geographic locations. Your participation is invited through
the sharing of your family line, by querying other members for help in your own family lines, or by
contributing related genealogical or historical information. You are welcome to post short family
group sheets, articles, census reports, Bible records, letters and any other items relating to the
history or genealogy of the Cope family.

GUIDELINES FOR ALL LISTS
We co-managers feel that the fewer the "rules" the better, so we have decided on some very basic
guidelines to keep us focused on our main purpose - the genealogical research of our families - and
to keep a casual, informal atmosphere where all feel comfortable enough to share.
- No Flaming! If you don't like what someone has written, use your DELETE key or
email that individual privately. This rule is firm. Flames and insults will NOT be tolerated
and flamers will be cheerfully removed from the list.
- Please do not send virus warnings, chain letters, political statements, etc. to the list.
- No commercial solicitations of any kind are acceptable. If you have genealogical information
for sale and would like to announce it here, please send the information to Jayne or David and
we will pass it along to the group, if we consider it appropriate.
- Please do not send any kind of attachment to the list. Attachments have a tendency to cause
too many problems. You are, however, welcome to send the attachments privately.
SUBSCRIBE TO A LIST:
There are 2 ways you can subscribe to a mail list:
- MAIL MODE (or LIST MODE) is where each individual message sent to the list will be forwarded to your email address as it is received (you get multiple emails from the list each day).
- DIGEST MODE is where each individual message sent to the list will be collected, and after a preset amount of time, all messages sent to the list during that time period will be forwarded to your email address as one email (you get approximately one email from the list each day).
To subscribe to a mailing list simply enter your email address, select the desired list, and click on the Subscribe button.
NOTE: Please read our PRIVACY POLICY before signing up to a list.
UNSUBSCRIBE FROM A LIST:
To unsubscribe to a mailing list simply enter your email address, select the desired list, and click on the un-Subscribe button.
POST MESSAGES TO THE LIST:
After you join a list, you may post messages to it. To do so simply send your message to appropriate list email address:
South list: SOUTH-SURNAME-L@rootsweb.com
Cope list: SOUTH-SURNAME-L@rootsweb.com
PLEASE DO NOT SEND SUBSCRIBE OR UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THESE ADDRESSES!!!
If you are having trouble, please contact us.
CHANGE OR SUSPEND YOUR SUBSCRIPTION:
To suspend your subscription when yoou're on vacation or otherwise away from email, simply unsubscribe, and then subscribe again when you return.
To change from mail mode to digest mode (or from digest mode to mail mode), simply unsubscribe from the list mode you are on, and then subscribe to the list mode you desire.
